Rand calls out Fauci as the ‘architect of the pandemic’ and addresses Fauci’s smear campaign to ‘take down’ 3 prominent epidemiologists from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford, calling them “Fringe” to discredit them in the media, despite 15,707 medical and public health scientists, and 46,412 medical practitioners standing behind the recommendations.

Fauci, Walensky testify at Senate hearing on omicron variant – January 12th, 2022

Top infectious-disease expert Anthony Fauci and director of the Centers for Disease Control Rochelle Walensky testify at a Senate hearing on the federal response to omicron. This live-stream is just over 5 hours long.

Senator Rand Paul charges Fauci with being the “architect” of the pandemic strategy.

2:05:17– Sen. Rand Paul “Dr, Fauci, the idea that a government official like yourself would claim unilaterally to represent science, that any criticism of you would be considered a criticism of science itself is quite dangerous.

Central planning, whether it be of the economy or science, is risky because of the fallibility. It would not be so catastrophic if the planner or simply one physician, then the mistakes would only affect that positions patients – the people who chose that physician. But when the planner is a government official like yourself who rules by mandate, the heirs are compounded.

A planner who believes he is “The Science” leads to arrogance that justifies, in his mind, using government resources to smear and to destroy the reputations of other scientists who disagree with him,”

In an email exchange with Dr Collins, you conspire and I quote here directly from the email: “To create a quick and devastating published takedown” of 3 prominent epidemiologists from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford. Apparently there’s a lot of “fringe epidemiologists” at Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.

In the email you agree with Dr Collins that they are “fringe”. “Takedown” doesn’t conjure up the image of a dispassionate scientist” – instead of engaging them on the merits, you and Dr Collins sought to smear them as “fringe” and take them down. And not in journals, in the press. This is not only antithetical to the scientific method, it is cheap politics and it’s reprehensible, Dr Fauci. Do you really think it is appropriate to use your $42,0,000 salary to attack scientists that disagree with you?

“Do you think anybody has had more influence over our response to this than you have? Do you think it’s a great success what’s happened so far? Do you think the lockdowns have been good for our kids? Do you think we slowed down the death rate?”

“You are the one responsible,” “You are the architect. You are the lead architect of the response from the government and now 800,000 people have died.”

What Epidemiologists was Rand Paul referring to?

World Epidemiologists from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford

He was referring to the Great Barrington Declaration which criticized universal lockdowns, calling for focused protection of the vulnerable older population based on data showing they are more than a thousand times more likely to die from COVID infection than the young.

“As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e. the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity.”

The declaration was authored by Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford University, Sunetra Gupta of the University of Oxford and Martin Kulldorff of Harvard University, calls for individuals at significantly lower risk of dying from COVID-19 – as well as those at higher risk who so wish – to be allowed ‘to resume their normal lives.’

The declaration has 920,000+ signatures including 15,707 medical and public health scientists, and 46,412 medical practitioners.

What Email was Rand Paul referring to?

Last year, ICAN made FOIA requests to NIH for documents regarding COVID-19, including two requests for Anthony Fauci’s emails., and received nearly 3,000 emails that are publicly available. Fauci Emails

The email Rand was referring to was an email from NIH Director Francis Collins telling Anthony Fauci that there needed to be a ‘devastating published takedown’ of the Great Barrington Declaration:

Later in the day, Fauci forwarded a piece from wired stating it ‘debunks this theory,’ which relies heavily on ending lockdowns and herd immunity:

Who is Francis Collins?

Francis Collins is an American geneticist who discovered genes causing genetic diseases and who was director (2009–21) of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). He had previously served as head (1993–2008) of the NIH’s National Human Genome Research Institute, a public research consortium in the Human Genome Project (HGP) since 1993, which had begun work on the HGP three years earlier with a stated goal of completing the sequencing project in 15 years at a cost of $3 billion by coordinating the work of a number of leading academic research centres around the country, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Wellcome Trust of London.

In 2009 Collins published The Language of Life: DNA and the Revolution in Personalized Medicine.

It was under Collins’ leadership that the NIH lifted a moratorium on gain-of-function research in 2017. That is, the research that enables the making of viruses infect humans aka “the creating of a bioweapon”.

Francis Collins is the current director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), who has since announced his resignation, just weeks after documents exposed that he made “untruthful” comments about U.S. federal funding of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Collins frequently appeared on television where he advocated for children wearing masks in schools while blaming unvaccinated Americans for the pandemic’s continuation.

Collins launched a smear campaign against the Great Barrington Declaration in the Washington Post headlined ‘Proposal to hasten herd immunity to the coronavirus grabs White House attention but appalls top scientists.’:

What did Fauci say to the Media about these Epidemiologists?

Fauci, shortly after the declaration came out, condemned the idea of relying on herd immunity to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus as “nonsense and very dangerous.”

One month later, a few weeks before the Pandemic, Fauci was interviewed and said he “aspirationally hopes to be able to encounter the ability to rapidly respond to something brand-new pandemic or attack upon us deliberately by bio terrorists.”
