Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a prescription drug on the WHO list of essential medicines. Originally used to treat malaria, it’s often used to treat disorders of connective tissue, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, porphyria cutanea tarda, infections & autoimmune disorders. HCQ has anti-inflammatory, immuno-modulating, anti-infective, anti-thrombotic & metabolic effects. It also has anti-tumor properties & is currently being examined as an anti-cancer candidate & for neurological diseases such as M.S. as well as been found to effectively (when combined with zinc) inhibit viral replication.
