Starting my Food Diary again [Oct 2020]

I accidently came across all my photos from 2014 (while I was cleaning out Google Photos, I hadn’t realized my phone had uploaded all my photos during that year!). Anyway, as I scroll through the photos before deleting them, I realized how healthy I was that year, how healthy I looked and felt, and that although I didn’t exactly see my current diet as ‘bad’ persay, it was nowhere near the level of what I was doing back then… and it obviously worked for me (and what I’m doing now is not working for me).

Accountability Food Diary

I’m not too keen to use Instagram or Social Media to upload every meal, I think it was the accountability that inspired me to be healthy that year. I took photos of everything I ate and wrote everything I ate, and as a result, somewhere in my psyche, I chose better, not just for the ‘shame’ reasons of having to admit I ate that cheesecake or something, but because I had a health blog at the time and I was also trying to inspire the benefits I was getting to others.

Then I hit my dark night and everything changed, including my diet, and I stopped uploading photos and stopped publishing my blog, and stopped my YouTube channel. I always thought there would be a point where I would ‘be back’, but I never came ‘back’.

And while I’m not back now, I’m inspired to regularly do my food diary again – at least on this blog where there’s not many visitors, to once again, I hope, inspire myself into health.

So a couple of days ago, with the 2014 photos fresh in my mind, I went grocery shopping and bought:

Pumpkin, Radish, Red Capsicum, Cauliflower, Spring Onions, Snow Peas, Green Beans, Rocket, Spinach, Mixed Lettuce, Red Cabbage, Cherry Tomatoes, Coriander, Broccoli, Black-seeded grapes, bananas, lemons, avocados, Pineapple, Apples, Carrots, and Chicken Tenders.

Hopefully enough ingredients to last a week of fresh juices, smoothies, and big dinner salads, to flood nutrition back into my body, and inspire healthy changes.

29th Sept & 30th Sept

2 Lattes (per day), Fresh Juice, Big Salad with Veggies and chicken tenders.

1st October

2 Lattes, green smoothie with avocado, mixed frozen berries, and all my supps/nuts/mushrooms and banana, etc.

For dinner I had baked potatoes with mixed cabbage/kale/carrot/beet, butter, cheese, bacon bits, spring onions, mushrooms, and sour cream (so could’ve chosen better here.. baby steps).
