(c.429–c.347 bc), Greek philosopher. A disciple of Socrates and the teacher of Aristotle, he founded the Academy in Athens.

Plato believed in universal truth and virtue. This idea has continued on to become universalism, that human rights are universal.

He believed that there were 3 classifications for people: warriors, philosophers, and workers.
