Free Instant Screencasts for Twitter & YouTube

I use Jing (JingProject.com) by TechSmith for all my videos, but I found these other screencast sites tonight that let you do it all without installing any software on your computer, these 3 sites (ScreenR, ScreenToaster, and Screenjelly) are a fantastic solution to the growing need for fast interaction with Social Media.

Firstly, ScreenR.. (http://screenr.com/)

Whether you want to use your webcam or record your screen, Screenr is a top super-fast site for recording instant screencasts and posting them directly to Twitter, Your Website, and YouTube.

You need a Twitter account… and when you visit Screenr.com – you can login via Twitter.

Then you just click on "Record" and you’ve begun… seconds later you could post your video to Twitter and YouTube.

• No software to download (Windows/Mac friendly)
• Before you post, you can review & add a description
• Download it to your computer for further editing if needed
• Upload it directly to Twitter & YouTube

Unlike Screenr, you register for the site and don’t login via Twitter. You register (Free) for the site and can record straight away just like Screenr. They are now experimenting with being able to post to YouTube.

And Finally, Screenjelly (http://www.screenjelly.com/)

Extremely similar to ScreenR, and allows you to directly email, tweet, post to your facebook wall or get the embed code to post directly to your blog.

One of the good things about ScreenR is that it then allows you to share to most of the popular social networks (del.ici.ous, digg, stumbleupon, friendfeed, myspace, and google) after you have finished recording.

It doesn’t have an upload to YouTube feature like ScreenR & ScreenToaster.

With Screenjelly, you can even start recording without first signing in so you can "Give it a Go" to see if you like it :)

And like ScreenR, you login via Twitter, and like ScreenToaster, you can optionally register but you also can login via Facebook.

Twitter is like.. tiny messages, about the size of your facebook status or mobile text messages, "microblogging".. there are facebook/myspace/rss apps, etc so that when you update your twitter, it automatically updates your facebook status, myspace profile, your website blog, etc, etc.. you can even send updates via your mobile phone "stuck at the airport".. Phoenix Twitter

I use this simple Free Software to build targeted Friend lists for my Niche Twitter accounts.

eg. for my @studythesecret account (which gives people a inspirational Twitter Quote of the Day from the movie "The Secret"), I want to only add people who "love" the movie "The Secret" and the "Law of Attraction", so I add people who love The Secret and The Law of Attraction by typing "The Secret Law of Attraction" into Phoenix Twitter. It then searches for "tweets" from people who have mentioned The Secret and The Law of Attraction in a single tweet, and starts following them. I generally average adding about 20 people every few days, but you can add up to 100 a day or more with this software (it is recommended to keep it between 50-100).  

It’s still being "created" by it’s owner, so future features could be added. But in the meantime, this is the fastest, most convenient way to add friends that are targeted to your particular niche. 

It currently: 

• Adds friends based on keywords
• Adds friends of other users
• Schedules tweets from a txt file on your computer

Unfortunately the Tweet Scheduler in it’s current form isn’t very useful for my purposes as it doesn’t schedule over several days, weeks, months.. (only in minutes), but hopefully a future update will also help me out there! (For example – for scheduling my "Quote of the Day" Twitter Accounts, I currently use TweetLater.com, as anything that sends messages over minutes is called spam in my eyes, and isn’t going to benefit anyone, and is only going to get you in trouble)

If it allowed an easier interface for scheduling future ‘valid’ tweets.. (ie: upcoming workshops, countdowns to big events…) anything that is faster, and more convenient than tweetlater’s scheduler, I’d be all praise for this software (I do still think it’s awesome though!).

Just found a site called "TweetLater", which allows you to auto-accept people who are following you and follow them right back on your behalf. It will even send an automated thank you message to their Twitter account! You can setup multiple accounts if you have multiple Twitter accounts (business/personal/special interest, etc) and it also allows you to "schedule" future tweets.

Great time-saver, love it. Have been playing around with the scheduled tweets for my special interest twitter accounts, one automatically posts daily "The secret" quotes, etc on http://twitter.com/studythesecret

I’ve only setup a few into the future just to test it out, I can think that it would be good for those who have an upcoming conference or event that they’d like to notify their followers about to make sure that it gets "posted" at the right time, etc. You can get your own TweetLater account FREE here: http://www.tweetlater.com

 A quick and plain English intro the micro-blogging service Twitter from http://www.commoncraft.com

Found this video today and thought it explained one-side of using Twitter pretty well.. well, better than other videos I’ve seen.

I dunno… I love how versatile Twitter is.. you can use it this way with your friends and acquaintances, or other ways as listed on the "what is twitter" page.

A third of my traffic for all my blogs come from twitter, another third from facebook, and the rest from search engines/other.

Although when a post gets stumbled/dugg, that tends to increase the hits to my sites dramatically.

I don’t use Twitter everyday, but I have found, that it’s a must-have in the internet-marketing world.. not so sure on it’s popularity with the general public, but maybe I only see what I see because the followers I have and the people I’m following are also generally into internet marketing :)

Oh how I love my Wordpress Plugin, it automatically finds these neat videos for me so that I don’t have to prowse around YouTube looking for Twitter videos hehe..

Looks like Twitter is making the news though which is great for us Twitter Bugs :)

I don’t frequent the Twitter support pages & blog often enough and in case anyone else doesn’t either, I thought I might add the Twitter Tracking info here as well to encourage people to use it cos it rocks. (The RSS with Summize (now Search.Twitter) is awesome and does the same thing except online, but for those who I haven’t yet convinced to go the rss way, or if you want to track things directly to your phone.. you can use Twitter Track pretty simply and get updates right to your phone or IM!)

What if you wanted an update anytime anyone mentioned your name, your town/city, 9/11 or similar, a product you sell, or product you are thinking about buying? In real-time? What if you were attending an event and wanted to know who else was there?

Twitter has a feature in-built that already does it, called “Track”. If you’ve set up your phone or IM on Twitter, you can send a command like:

track Facebook

When someone (anyone who updates in public) mentions “Facebook,” you’ll get it on your device in real-time. From there you can send “whois username” to find out more about that person, or “follow username” to follow his or her updates. Don’t want to receive anymore about Facebook? Toggle it off with:

untrack facebook

You can create as many of these as you want, so send “track drinking tea“, “track
iphone“, “track walking san francisco” and you’ll receive matches for all. Want to get a list of what you’re currently tracking? Send “track” alone (or “stats“). Turn them all off by sending “track off“.

Track words or phrases on Twitter

Twitter has introduced tracking, a feature allowing you to receive on your devices all Twitter updates that contain a word of choice. Send track+keyword to Twitter from your phone or IM to get updates containing that word. For example: track Obama to receive updates matching Obama.

Track your Twitter user name to get all of your @replies sent to your phone or IM. You can track anyone, anything, and as many things as you’d like; you can track mochi while also tracking Chicago and Aesop Rock. Use the other track commands to control what you’re tracking from phone and IM:

• track earthquake
• untrack earthquake
• untrack all stops tracking everything.
• track off stops all tracking updates, track on restarts them
• tracks returns a list of words you track.

When I send track off, do I lose all of the keywords I was tracking? Yes. You’ll have to re-track all keywords when you use the track off command.

Can I track multiple items in one command, like: track britney, mochi, iphone? No. You have to track each thing in a separate command message.

Can I track from the web? No. For now, track is for phone and IM only. Web support potentially coming soon.

Will tracked updates include results from protected profiles? No. No protected updates will appear in track results.

Will tracked updates include results from profiles I’ve blocked? No. Updates from blocked profiles are excluded.

Summize Twitter Friend Finder

On the Summize site you can search for any term or phrase and see all the twitts that include it. You can filter by language, people, attitudes (positive :-) or negative :-( ) and also translate twitts in other languages to English.

You can also subscribe to a particular term/phrase’s feed thus saving you the time of having to go to the Summize site. Summize also allows developers to use their API and integrate Summize’s search results with their own apps.

For example, I have a strong interest in "The Secret", and "The Law of attraction" as well as struggle terribly with "Drupal".. so I want to find those kinds of people to follow :)

Dear Digsby – How I love you – Let me count the ways…

I can’t believe I’ve never blogged about you Digsby.. you are the other love of my life.. I recommend you to everyone, I talk about you with everyone, even people at work are asking me to shutup about you :) but tonight I realized that I’ve never actually written a blog post expressing my love for you! Oh the Shame! Everyone who owns a computer and uses the internet needs you… you are the greatest! 

Here is my open love letter to you "Digsby".

Dear Digsby…

I love you because you let me "Tweet"… 

• You handle my many Twitter profile accounts so that I don’t have to login/logout of Twitter multiple times to post or keep updated with everyone’s tweets.

I love that you… 

… Keep me connected to Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn

• You let me see what’s going on in my Facebook accounts and even chat live to online Facebook friends, without having to login to Facebook
• … And I never have to login to that hideously slow site "My Space" because of you.. *HUGE THANKYOU! FOR THAT ONE!*
• …. And you let me know what’s going on in my LinkedIn account so that I don’t have to keep checking in there either. 

I love you even more because you’re AWESOME at eMail Handling!

• You handle all my personal and business email accounts regardless of whether they are hosted on my own host, gmail, or any other platform – oh Thank you Digsby for this.. you are so awesome. You show me immediately when there’s a new message so that I can preview it without having to login to each of the accounts and you allow me to instantly see that important email that I was waiting for.. and you let me quickly check all my inboxes instantly whenever I like…  I love you Digsby, I LOVE you. 

I love you because I could Uninstall MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Jabber, GoogleTalk, and ICQ.. 

• You keep me connected to my MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Jabber, Google Talk, and connected me up to my old ICQ accounts so I could see contacts that I hadn’t chatted to in years, without me having to download any of those programs or have them "all open at the same time". I could wipe them all and just keep you. xoxo

In a Nutshell, I love you because… 

• You save me having to install multiple applications, and that you let me message my friends, update my statuses, tweet, and keep updated on everything that is important (and not so important) to me, all with just a click.

And the best thing about you Digsby… 

• .. The absolute best thing about you Digsby? My fave thing ever that I love about you? I love that you let me login to you wherever I am, and that I don’t have to reset anything – I can login to you at home or work or when visiting my family and friends and all of my settings are kept. I update you at home, and when I login at work, you are there, all synchronised with my new preferences and accounts. Aww… You’re the best Digsby!… *I feel a tear coming on…*

And you are free? Wow, I love you!

• You save me time that no other application on my computer can do, you are necessary. I cannot live without you Digsby.
