Digg
Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web.
When you “digg” something, your submission will immediately appear in “Upcoming Stories,” where other members can find it and, if they like it, Digg it.
Once a submission has earned a critical mass of Diggs, it becomes “popular” and jumps to the homepage in its category. If it becomes one of the most popular, it qualifies as a “Top 10”. If a submission doesn’t receive enough Diggs within a certain time period, it eventually falls out of the “Upcoming” section.
The domain digg.com attracts at least 236 million visitors annually. Need I say more? :)
So signup for Digg: http://www.digg.com
Add the tools to your browser so you can easily “digg” things you find on the web. Each week, “digg” your best blog post, site, or article. Digg other people’s sites and share your thoughts and comments.
Things you “digg” will also show up in your Facebook profile,if you installed the apps that I suggested.
How to implement Digg:
(1) Write in your blog
(2) Digg It
(3) Ping it (Pingoat.com or Pingomatic.com)
(4) Voila, Googled within 6 hours – yep!
Adding Digg to your Blog
For the self-hosted WordPress blogs:
If you installed the Add Sig plugin (see Day 3 – Blog), then login to your WordPress..
Settings > DDAddSig
And copy and paste this code into the top of your signature box:
<script src=”http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js” type=”text/javascript”></script>
And that will add a “Digg This!” to the bottom of every post :)
For those that use Blogger and the 3rd party hosted blogs:
If you don’t have your own self-hosted WordPress, see this page on Digg for more options on adding Digg to your blog/website:
